The Sciotoville Christian Church

Thank You for Sending

On June 17th the Sciotoville Christian church will be sending a group of 15 (2 Virginians, 12 ½ Buckeyes, and ½ of me still belongs to the Bluegrass). With much still left to do we will certainly be in need of your prayers. As is always the case, this trip will not be a perfect one. I understand that we have already done some things that we need to improve upon for our next trip, Lord willing. I know, based on experience, that while we are there we will find some things that we were unprepared for and some things that we prepared for that will never happen. But that is part of the process of short term mission projects. Lord willing, we will get better and better at doing this.

I want to say how extremely proud I am of everyone in this congregation who has been willing to participate in this project. Every mission is reliant upon two types of individuals: those who go and those who send. First to those who will be going, I want to say, “Thank you!” and to let you know that we are in for a truly life-changing experience. Get ready for a broken heart and opened eyes!!!

For those of you who have been our “senders” I am truly grateful. The team cannot in anyway do what we will be doing without those who are willing to give financially, spiritually, and emotionally. Those of you who have given money for this trip are doing so in hopes of nothing in return for yourself. That is certainly a characteristic of Kingdom minded people who are only concerned about the sowing of the “Gospel Seed” to those you will never meet this side of heaven. “THANK YOU!”

Not everyone is capable of giving financially, but everyone can give spiritually. I am asking for everyone in this congregation to be praying for us while we are on the road, in the air, and in the country. Everything from transportation to and from the airport, to a smooth airport experience, to the effectiveness of our trip would all be types of prayer concerns that we will need you to pray about. Please give of yourselves spiritually so that we might bring the maximum amount of glory to our loving Father.

For those giving emotionally, I can only tell you I can certainly sympathize. When we allow those we love to go somewhere far from home it tugs at us! I know the hardships that can be caused by removing a mom or dad or a child from the family for even a short time. The emotional sacrifice is one that is often overlooked and many times under-appreciated by everyone involved. I thank you for your sacrifice.  Please know that people in this congregation will be praying for you also.

I want to ask all of you to come out and join us on Wednesday night June 11th at 6PM for our Jamaica send off party. We will have Jamaican style food (mostly chicken, rice, and fruits); wear a Caribbean looking outfit (Hawaiian shirts and shorts are fine); and come ready to pray for all aspects of our trip. I hope you will make every effort to attend.

 ….because He still lives,

Jason
