The Sciotoville Christian Church

What needs done around the church?

In Matthew (10), Mark (6), and Luke (9) - Jesus gave specific instructions as he sent out the disciples.  His point in sending them out to the surrounding communities was simple, MANY doing the work is better than ONE doing the work.  He instructed them to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, annoint with oil, and preach.  Jesus understood that for his message to reach everyone, he had to rely on other people to help spread the news.

Today's church is no different in that of Jesus's ministry.  People are still needed to help spread the word.  Jesus did not expect every disciple to do ALL the work by himself, but to be a part of a greater effort.   Some are better equipped to teach, some are better to bake cookies, some are better to pray with the sick, some are better to cheer on sports teams.  It takes a large amount of people doing  Ministry for a church (more than just two ministers!).

Many people ask:  What can I do to help the Youth Ministry.  Here are some things that are desperately needed right now!

  1. We need some teachers who will take 2 weeks of a month and teach the Bible Builder class.  The lessons are easy to teach, with great craft and game ideas.  This class is filled with wonderful 3 - 5 year old children.  If interested, see JEremy!
  2. We need people who will be interested in helping bake Cookies and Brownies and purchasing Pop for Youth Activities.
  3. We need people who will be willing to send out monthly encouragement cards to Youth, letting them know that people are church love them and care about them.
  4. We need people would will go and cheer on the youth when they are involved in special activities; sports, musical productions, etc.  Jesus probably did not attend everything in around Palestine, but with all the disciples, his presence was still felt.
  5. We need people to pray for the youth.  It is true, the youth of today faces more things than the youth of yesterday did.  This group of youth needs your prayers to help them tread through the stuff that they are facing on a daily basis...Sports should be 1st in our lives, church attendance is not important, sex outside of marriage is a normal part of the dating relationship, alcohol and drug abuse is a part of life, divorce is a normal step in adulthood, Do what is best for making yourself nuumber 1, etc.

As you can see, there are numerous things YOU can do to help our church grow.  Some are easy and some require a little more effort.  The biggest mistake that the church, and it's people, can make is not doing anything at all.
